Use NextDNS to block ads and trackers at the DNS level. Also uBlock Origin is probably the best web browser plugin. If you want more privacy you could self-host a Pi-hole server

Use Tailscale on an Apple TV, allows access to your local network when away, but also as a free VPN when abroad in countries with restrictions.
